V2X FAQs.
V2X technology is new to many people. Here are some of the most common questions from EV owners.
-
V2X stands for Vehicle to Everything. It means your EV can send power back out — to your home (V2H), the grid (V2G) or other devices (V2L). It turns your car into a power station on wheels.
-
Not every EV supports bidirectional charging yet. We've tested and verified models like the Polestar 4 and Volvo EX90 as fully compatible, with more added every month. Check our full compatibility list or bring your EV to the demo centre and we'll check it together.
-
It depends on your EV's battery capacity, charger and your home's energy needs. On our tested vehicles we've seen up to 10.2 kW of V2H output — enough to power an average home for a day or more from a full battery.
-
Using V2X does add extra charge-discharge cycles, but modern EV batteries and management systems are designed to handle this efficiently, with minimal extra degradation. You stay in control of how much charge is reserved for driving.
-
No — V2X works with or without solar. Solar simply gives you free energy to store in your EV or battery first, maximising your savings. Without solar, V2X still lets you charge when electricity is cheap and use that stored power later.
-
Yes. Every installation is built on proven Sigenergy technology and follows UK wiring and grid-connection regulations. We test every system in real conditions at our own demo centre before recommending it to you.
-
Cost depends on your home, your EV and which capabilities you want (V2H backup, V2G export, or both). We provide honest, no-obligation quotes after a free survey — get in touch for a personalised price.
-
Yes. With Vehicle-to-Grid, you can export surplus energy from your EV back to the grid and get paid or credited for it — effectively turning your car's downtime into an income source, while helping balance the wider grid.
